WHITE DAY DATE | WHITE DAY Café from SHINee!

White Day is a holiday celebrated on March 14th in Japan and other Asian countries such as South Korea, Taiwan, and China. It is a day when men/women who received "confession" chocolates a month earlier on February 14th are expected to return the favor by giving them gifts, typically white-colored ones such as white chocolate, marshmallows, or jewelry. It's also known as "reply day".

This year for White Day, I went to the WHITE DAY Café from SHINee!

WHAT'S THE WHITE DAY CAFE FROM SHINEE?

It is a limited-time, pop-up SHINee theme café being hosted in both Tokyo and Osaka. For White Day, Box&Cafe teamed up with the world-renowned illustrator Chocomoo, a Japanese artist who has collaborated with a number of apparel brands and musical artists both in Japan and abroad to draw the SHINee members and other designs in her characteristic black and white style.

MY EXPERIENCE

In order to attend the White Day Café from SHINee, you must make a reservation online through the official website here. You can walk in, but it is not guaranteed you can get a seat. So, if you're a huge SHINee fan, I recommend making a reservation.

Once on the website, you can not only make a reservation, but you can also view the menu and merch beforehand. Although I was kind of sad that Taemin wasn't included because he is my favorite SHINee member, I was excited to still go since SHINee is basically the 2nd K-POP group I got into.

Making an online reservation was fairly easy, and I was happy that the time slots we wanted were available. After making a reservation, I started perusing the menu. I wasn't too impressed with the food, but the desserts and drinks were a must-try! Plus, the color scheme and Chocomoo drawn designs were so cute and perfect for White Day!

Finding the café wasn't much of a problem at all and we arrived 10 minutes before our reservation as recommended.

When we arrived, we were quickly greeted and asked to make our menu selections while standing in line. We ordered the Box cake, cream donut, lime kiwi soda, berry peach soda, and jewelry parfait. Usually, I wouldn't have gone so overboard, but I felt like a princess and wanted to enjoy and indulge at the moment. I felt like eating sweets was the perfect way to spend White Day.

After we placed our orders, we were asked if we wanted to purchase any merchandise, which was neatly lined up off to the side. We both shook our heads because we just wanted to enjoy the atmosphere. We were then presented with a lottery because we were entitled to two limited-edition photocards!

The entire café had huge posters of the members and a large television playing our favorite SHINee songs, and once we were led to our seats, we were quickly brought our drinks. About 5-7 minutes later, we received our desserts. We were also given limited-edition coasters and cute personal messages from the members as well.

Needless to say, our tiny table was full, and only then did we realize then just how much we ordered, but we were determined to finish them all! To our surprise and delight, not one dessert was overly sweet! Looking back, my favorite was the box cake. It was light and fluffy with lots of whip cream.

The café was full of SHINee fans, all enjoying the music and taking pictures with their plushies and favs. It was a really great time, and I found myself missing the time when I was obsessed with a boyband during my teens and... early twenties!

After finishing our desserts, which came to a whopping 70$, we needed to walk off all of the sugar and headed over to Shinjuku Gyoen. It's a short walk away and had a lot of ample space to just relax. It was a beautiful day and we spent a lot of time just walking, talking, and sitting near the pond.

All in all, this White Day was a 10/10! How did you spend White Day? I'd love to hear about it in the comments!
